13 miles from the mexican border, a trip with family

Back in March we planned a trip to San Diego to the Hotel Del Coronado with both of our parents. We headed down after work on Thursday and stayed overnight in Bakersfield. After arriving in San Diego on Friday we met up with the Jensens and Garguiles and headed straight to lunch. Dominic's one request for the weekend was a meal at the pizza place we tried last time. It didn't disappoint. How could you go to San Diego and not walk on the beach enjoying the fresh air and sand between your toes. Both moms grabbed a drink first and while we were waiting I had them snap a shot of everyone else

My mom and dad enjoying the weather

He's got his feet buried already!

A look back at the gorgeous hotel del

Some family shots

You can't really tell but this is my footrint INSIDE his footprint

Instead of wasting the day we drove over to oldtown san diego

They had these gorgeous figurines, I picked up a nativity set and Mary got an ark for Janet. There were a ton of them but because she had to take them on the plane she had to get a small one. I think the first is my favorite.

They even had olive oil and balsamic tastings. I just tried a few but Dominic and Mary tried just about all of them.

That night after getting back to the hotel we saw the first of about 5 brides,
and enjoyed the sunset.

A goodnight's sleep and we were off on the trolly to explore the rest of San Diego, first stop Balboa Park.

Unfortunately the organ is only played on Sunday at 2 so we couldn't see it but the stadium was sure pretty.

I just love this one of Tim and Mary with this reptile model.
There was a bunch of unique buildings and museums

Next stop, Little Italy.

What is a British mini doing in Little Italy?

The power boxes around here are even painted.

Main attraction, Filippi's pizza.

That's not too nice hunny!
More British digs, someone really otta tell these people it's LITTLE ITALY

Back onto the trolly, sorry mom but everyone else looks so great.

No stopping at the boats but a quick picture on the way by never hurt anyone.

Dinner that night was at a restaurant that looks just like the hotel del. Seafood and Steak. I wasn't really able to each much since baby G demanded about ALL of my abdomen during dinner time this ENTIRE weekend! Thanks a lot kid.

an oyster shot, YUCKY. He said he won't be attemping this again.

Upon returning to the Del my dad managed to lock the keys in the car. Oh the memories. Here's Tim just waiting for the locksmith.
For breakfast the next morning we did the brunch buffet in the crown room. Thank goodness G gave me some room this morning and I was able to try a ton of stuff. One of my favorites was the shots, the fruit juice shots :) They had banana, pinapple and strawberry.

How could I forget, Whitney joined us for the morning. She goes to San Diego State (graduating this year) and we couldn't travel so far and miss visiting with locals ;)

We've got a bunch more traveling coming up in the next month, can't wait to tell you all about it.
