14 weeks

Big strides this week, mainly in the rolling over arena.  Liam has conquered back to front and is working hard on front to back, doing superman's regularly.  He's also a big giggler now and is extremely interested in Eclair.

Superman!
Please tell me those rolls aren't to die for!

So who does he look like??

Here are a few preview shots we had done by Becca Hamilton

Rolling Over

Liam rolled back to front all by himself for the first time today.  We've been encouraging him for the last week or so, pushing him halfway and letting him get the other half on his own, but today he did the ENTIRE roll by himself.  We couldn't be more proud...let the baby proofing begin!

3 months

3 months ago today Liam entered our lives and they were forever changed...we didn't even understand how changed they were in that moment...but they were. Here are the zero, one and two month shots to remind you where he's come from:

And here are today's:

the post wouldn't be complete without bloopers:

This next progression is hilarious to me..baby sneezes

Current stats:
he's in a 6 month onesie.
weight: 15 1/2 pounds!!!!
height 24 1/2 inches!!!
He's HUGE!  Dr. Daley said his 10m old is about that weight.
The WHO breastfed boys growth chart puts his weight at about 80th percentile and weight-for-length at about 85th percentile

13 weeks

Things new this week include a jumparoo, my first weekend of call as a mom and father's day...lets start with the last one first.

Dominic made my first mother's day quite wonderful by including things like breakfast and diamonds so I wanted to make him feel special as well.  Since diamonds don't seem to appeal to men like they do the ladies I figured I'd go the electronic route. And since I like my iphone and so does Dominic I decided to get him the ipad!  He LOVED it.  He's been getting apps and playing words free all the time.

And now for the jumparoo. I think this is Liam's version of the ipad. Although he can certainly hold his head up and push off, signaling he was ready, he was still a bit short to touch the ground. Not sure how tall they expect a child to be considering Liam is tall for his age, but I remedied the situation with an old text book! He will sit, jump, smile and play in it for up to 45min, guess that means I like it just as much as Liam does. The only other issue is that he can easily see the television so we had to move it to limit his view. (how on earth a baby that is about 3 months old can find the tv is beyond me, but he did) Guess this means it's time to really limit our viewing and chose programs wisely! So far we're sticking with ESPN, national geographic, discovery, and food shows. Another new development is his interest in Eclair. He'll watch her play fetch and has even grabbed at her a time or two. Plus, we're actively working on teaching him to roll over, although I'm hoping he holds off a few more weeks since it means a semi-mobile baby and that equals harder to control!

A few more gifts arrived on our door this week as well.  The onesie is from Jim and Lauren, O'Dea is the highschool Dominic attended and the one I've been told Liam will attend as well.  The book is from a midwife friend, Lydia, and her lovely family.  It's one I've heard was good and I'm excited to share with Liam.

A few goodies we picked up this week on our own...yarn for a big new project and an Ergo baby carrier for back wearing Liam

Lastly, a report of my first call weekend since becoming a mom. Things actually went really well. I was crazy busy on Friday night, having 3 deliveries but the rest of the weekend was quiet and during the busy time I was able to make it home to feed Liam during his one night feed around 2am. I'm sure they won't all be this smooth, but I'm hoping the next one coming up in just 2 weeks is. I'm thinking after that he may have dropped that night feed and we won't have to worry so much about heating up bottles in a hurry while I'm gone.

12 weeks

With every day that goes by I feel like my newborn is becoming a baby and will be a toddler before I know it.  As much as I love watching him learn new things I wish he could stay this little forever.  I just cannot get enough snuggle time and kisses to suffice.
This week marks a full time return to work for me and lots of new friends for Liam.  We went to two events last weekend, the first being a wedding.  A former employee of Dominic's, Amber, was getting married here in town to Jarrett and we were invited.  Of course Liam tagged along and was a pretty good guest overall.  It was 90+ degrees and the ceremony and reception were outside so the little bit of fussing he did was understandable.

The following day it was off the the Bay area for Kevin's birthday party.  Kevin and Kate have a little girl, Emma who is just about 2 months older than Liam.  They will be moving to New York in August and we wanted to be sure the kiddos met before they left...what's a better excuse than a birthday party!  Please note the picture where Liam is pulling away from Emma (almost like he's saying...umm why are you touching me lady, while Emma is just being happy and nice) and the HUGE smiles he gave Jesse.  Jesse is also moving to New York this Fall, it's like a mass exodus as Dominic put it that day.

There have been a bunch of veggies popping up in the garden and Liam has a great time checking everything out, I'll let you see the progress for yourself.  We've been learning as we go and this weeks lesson involved removing the greens from the carrots so they don't go limp so quickly.

We did spend a little time just hanging around enjoying being a family too

Bath time is still Liam's favorite time of the day.  He will not cry when he's in the bath.  In fact, I even dump the water straight over his head to get the soap off and it gets in his eyes and everything but he doesn't make a peep.  We're using the tummy tub right now, like a little baby spa bucket, and I'm not sure how much longer he'll be in it unless he stops trying to stand up during the bath.  I'm afraid he's going to flip the thing over!  You can also see his finger sucking/nawing he's doing to help with the teething pain, more on that later.

And last but not least, the teeth buds growing.  We've been giving Liam Hyland's teething tablets and occassionally some Tylenol which really seems to help with the pain.  He's been sleeping up a storm, from about 8:30-6:30 then waking to eat and going back to bed until around 10am.  With the exception of last night during which he woke to eat at 1am AND 5am but slept until 8:30 after that.  I suspect a growth spurt but we won't know for sure until I do his height and weight in a few days for the 3 month stats.

And before I go, I want to say again how much we LOVE our nannny, Brooke.  It was a complete blessing to have the original plans fall through because Liam loves Brooke and so do I, in fact Eclair even loves her.  She takes them both for a walk most mornings, plays with Liam in developementally appropriate ways, cleans my house while Liam naps and is familiar with both breast feeding and cloth diapering....what more could I ask for!  I tried to get a picture of them today, she was helping me get a shot of his teeth, but she asked me not to so I'll respect that...for this week anyway ;)  I'm sure you'll see her here eventually!
