Doggy upkeep

We love Eclair so much and couldn't imagine our lives without her. With this housing crisis, especially in CA, there has been a big increase in abandoned dogs. If you're interested in getting a dog, PLEASE realize that with the cute pup comes a ton of work and $$. We have to pay for her shots, check ups, food, piddle pads, flea meds, and heart worm meds. We need to bathe her, clip her nails, clean her ears, and set up and pay for boarding when we go on vacation OR pay for her to travel with us and get her a health certificate. Dogs are a ton of work that could last for up to 20yrs. Just incase you're thinking I'm not sure it's worth it, check out our cute little girl after her flea meds today.

Weekend recap

We didn't really do much this weekend, except clean the house and yard which was completed just after noon on Saturday. Since then we have been doing well, nothing! We are just lounging around and enjoying it. I guess you could say that we completed our taxes today, Sunday morning. But really they were done last weekend we just had to go back through them and make sure there were no errors, which there weren't and they were promptly filed electronically :) We won't be getting nearly as much back as last year and surprisingly we actually owe California a bit. Now were just relaxing on the couch watching the Oscars. Since there were no fancy dinners or breakfasts, we went out to Mimi's Cafe in honor of our parents get together at Pat's today, I don't have any pictures to post.

Baby 151

Many of you probably don't remember my earlier post about #109 but I will never forget her. Usually with something like a fetal demise many families opt for a different provider with subsequent pregancies simply because of the heartache and familiarity of the loss that arises just with being around the same provider. This wasn't the case with this couple. We had bonded and worked through the work up and grief of the loss together. Several months after she was back and pregnant again, she chose to continue with me for this pregnancy and although she was rightfully anxious, as was I, I assured her that I would take a special interest in her and would be at her delivery NO MATTER WHAT. I never do this with my current practice simply because it goes against the nature of the group; but this couple was special and I selfishly wanted to be the one to hand them a crying baby. I got the privilege to do just that this morning. Their baby girl was born just after midnight and is a tiny little miracle. As much as I love handing babies to their mothers for the first time, this one held a special meaning and will never be forgotten.

You might also notice that I've gotten over the 150 mark, no including cesarian sections, I count those but seperately. My goal for the year is to hit 200 and I'm well on my way with another delivery anticipated later today :)

part deux

We have been having a great time spending the three day weekend together but not having anything in particular to do. The day started off with some more crepes, this time with a whipcream heart
Then today on our treck out to pick up super nintendo controllers for the wii we stopped by trader joe's. Usually Dominic doesn't get me flowers on Valentines because they're ridiculously over priced. He got me some last weekend and said we would pick up some more next weekend too, just skipping Valentines weekend. But I got some this weekend too. They were $10/dozen roses at TJ's and these were so organic and not perfect rose looking I couldn't pass them up. At the check out the clerk said, why don't you pick some from over there too, for FREE! I have tons of flowers all over the house and it's great! First the roses on the table. These are the ones from last weekend, still going strong

One from the free bunch in my bathroom to make me smile in the morning

And the rest of the free bunch in the living room

There is also a single rose on my nightstand, but I didn't get a shot of that one.

Happy Valentine's Day

Our Valentines Day began on Feb 13th with my new favorite breakfast, crepes. This time Dominic made a blueberry compote. After a little jaunt up to Lodi to pick up out wine club shipment from D'art (we ended up being 2wks early so now we have to go back) we got back home. I put Dominic's sweater on in the tasting room because it's actually been chilly here in Central California, he turns to me and says in all seriousness, "that looks a little big on you" It took us back to the middle school daysI bought Dominic this great new magazine that showcases dinners for two. This is what we decided to make

Our first time using the pasta attachment for the Kitchaid. It was ridiculously easy and we'll certainly be using it again soon.

One of the great things about the magazine is that it has lovely little side dishes and salads that coordinate with the meals, here's the fried mozzerella we made. The finish product

Table all set

You can't have Valentines without chocolate covered strawberrys...YUM
I had settled in for the night at this point and was enjoying my strawberry
