22 weeks and 5 months

Yesterday Liam turned 5 months, I had every intention of blogging about it and taking pictures but then I woke up ridiculously dizzy and took my first sick day since I started here in Modesto over 4 years ago.  Needless to say, I didn't get to taking the pictures or blogging.  Today I'm at about 75% and that's enough to get the pictures taken and up on the blog.

5 month stats (done at home):
weight: 18.25 pounds
height: 27 inches

clothing size:  6-12m in all clothes, 9m carter's pjs, 9-18m onesies (weird sizing, right?!), bumgenius are totally unsnapped and on the highest rise (I suspect we're going to go back to the 2nd snap once he gets the hang of crawling and loses some chunk on his thighs), 6-12m shoes

I have to go back to the beginning so you can see just where he's come from...my little 8#7oz doesn't seem so big anymore!

Drumroll Please......5 MONTHS!!!!

What he's doing now:

sitting in his highchair for dinner and sucking his thumb/fingers

working HARD at crawling, he does a short of army crawl/roll/scoot to get around pretty fast for such a little guy, I think Eclair better enjoy her last few weeks of being able to get away from him easily

A little blurry but it's one of my favs
L-O-V-E-S airplane time with mommy

Had his first babysitter.  Andrea came to help out when I was on call and Dominic was away at a baseball game, she ended up watching him for about an hour total while I was away at a delivery but hung out with us for most of the afternoon and evening
Sucking his bottom lip

Here are the Picture People 5 month shots:

On another note, we finally finished our family tree.  Andrea was kind enough to write the names, since her handwriting is spectacular, when she was here to watch Liam.  We got the tree as a wedding gift from the Jensen's and Cindy...almost 3yrs later we got it finished!  I LOVE IT!

Next week we're really looking forward to our trip up to Washington for Dominic's 10 year reunion.  It's been about a month since everyone's seen him and he's just developed so much since then that I can't wait for them to see all his 'tricks' in person!

21 weeks

Liam turns the big 21 today, only it's weeks and not years...thank goodness.  I would be having a heart attack if my baby was growing up that fast!.  No real fun trips this week, we laid low in anticipation of a few busy weekends ahead, but we did get to see Theresa, Elsie Jo, Felicity and Ruby.  Liam and Elsie just sat/laid and watched each other.  They reached out a few times but that was the extent of the interaction for now.  Since the weather was so nice we even took a dip in their pool, Liam's only time since Chelan, and he did WONDERFUL.  I think this kid is a fish.  He just floated in their baby blow up net thing like the one we had up in WA and enjoyed the cool splashes and Felicity's swimming talents.

Liam is continuing to surprise us all with his movement and has had a few firsts this week
1. He is now pulling up to hands and knees and then propelling himself forward, a new upgraded version of the worm
2. He sat in his highchair for the first time, at home, like a big boy.  If you remember he used a highchair at grandma's during a few meals but this was his first time here.
3. Had his first real bath in the tub by himself.  I have been refusing to upgrade him just so I didn't have to sit on the floor, we've been using the tummy tub and puj tub in the sink, until last night when he went into the real tub by himself.  He did seem to enjoy all the toys and being able to splash a little so it looks like I need to bite the bullet and get one of those tub toy corral things so his toys can dry out.
4. First time sucking his thumb.  He's been sucking on his hands and fingers for quite a while, but I looked over the other day and he had just his thumb in there!

New people:
Liam met Ryan this week!  He was in Cali for a quick work thing and was able to make it down to our place for a quick dinner.  Liam seemed to L-O-V-E him!

Some pictures:
My belly shot from this week...NO, I'm not pregnant.  I figured I would update my progress since I'm just past the 20 week mark which is half a pregnancy.  Not too shabby huh?  I'm really not doing anything in particular to get here or maintain

Do you see the thumb, busted Liam
He's sayin, Yeah, I'm cool in my highchair at the adult table
 My little fishy
 Checking out Ryan

 Cheesin' for the camera

Liam just loved hanging out with Elsie Jo.  Unfortunately, he wore pore Elsie out and she slept most of the time...Sometimes I wish Liam would take lessons from Elsie on sleeping

Thought it might be nice to have a video so you can see his progress toward crawling...yes CRAWLING!

And a few shots from the phone of 'daily life'

20 weeks

Liam decided to add a new trick this week, he's sitting on his own!  We have to set him up and he falls easily, especially when he's reaching out for a toy or eclair, but each day he's getting better.

For once we didn't have anything that needed to get done this weekend so we were able to head to Oakland and go to the zoo. This was Liam's first time at the zoo and I think he might have been more interested in the tamed mammals, ie children, then the caged ones!  The weather was perfect and we made it almost all the way through the park before Liam got too tired and conked out.  There are a TON of pictures, thanks to Dominic.

I wanted to update on the cloth diaper situation too, since we're almost 4.5 months in.  We are still using the Bumgenius and we've added a few gro-babies to the mix just so we could try out an all-in-two.  We adore them all but if I had to pick one I would go with the Bums.  Our stash of 24 makes for a good two full days before having to wash.  and speaking of wash, I just ran out of the All free and clear we were using and started with the Charlie's Soap so we'll see if there is any difference.  I think the brightest note regarding the cloth is that Liam hasn't had a single diaper rash and has only had a leak when he goes too long between changes.  Not having those blow-outs that you hear parents talk about all the time is WONDERFUL!  He is currently in the highest rise at night time when we double stuff the diapers and the middle rise during the day when he's single stuffed.  They are suppose to be good to 35 pounds so we'll see if they make it that long.  During our WA trip we used them too, I borrowed a wet bag with drawstring from Brooke and it worked perfectly.  I know it was more of a pain having more stuff to transport and a few loads of laundry to do but it was worth it not to have a diaper rash or blowout along the way.

Liam's schedule has been changing a bit over the last week too.  He seems to be transitioning to waking up later by pushing his bead time to around 8:30pm.  Occasionally, he gets up at 11 and eats again but several times he's gone until 4am without waking.  After eating in bed with us he goes back to his crib until 7:30 when he's up for the day.  If we could eliminate those 11 o'clock wakes ups I think I'd be thrilled :)

A shot Brooke took of Liam and Eclair playing together during the day. Notice the simultaneous playing while not acknowledging each other...completely age appropriate :)
Listen, I'm going to eat Dr Squeaks head, is that ok??
He's quite proud of himself, you'll see why in just a second
He started out ON the play mat and ended up here...in only a few minutes...guess I need to start baby proofing, staring with that wine.

The solution to the hard floors...a larger mat.  This isn't even the entire thing but I didn't want to consume the whole floor with brightly colored alphabet tiles.
Not so sure about the new surface, mom.  It took him a few days to actually move around on it, before that he just stayed in one position.
Foaming at the mouth, do we need to get a rabies shot???

An example of where he's at with pushing up/movement

Here is proof of his sitting abilities

PS I received a text from Dominic today that said "we're going to have a crawler soon"
