A walk down memory lane:

At one year Liam is just busting at the seams with personality.  He's picking things up quicker than ever and is just becoming so independent and opinionated, certainly he gets that last part from his daddy.
How big is this one year old!

Today I start the 365 project for Liam...this is definitely going to be tough but I'm committed and I think it will make a wonderful memory for Liam in the future.

51 weeks

Firsts this week:
opening the flip up pages on books.  He is starting to bring books to us to read to him.
time throwing up.  It started on Saturday night at the end of dinner and he did it again twice that night.  Just when we thought we were in the clear (it had been about 24hrs) he threw up again on Sunday night.  No more since then and he seems to be back to his usual self.

What he's up to:
he's been pointing at things
hugging everyone including us and Eclair, she really doesn't want much to do with him yet
very interested in watching Dominic make dinner
like to dig around in the dirt outside, it's only been nice enough a handful of times but he just doesn't want to come in.  Grandma and Grandpa got him a play toy for outside and once it stops raining we'll let him try it out

We went to Elsie Jo's 1st birthday party and were joined by Lilianna Love!
Here's the picture of all of them...this is SOOO hard to get because they're all either going in their own direction or Liam is attacking one of the girls

Dominic caught him posing and it was just SO adorable I think my little heart melted when I saw these.

Next week is Liam's first birthday.  I already feel like I don't have a 'baby' anymore so I'm not sure what feelings the day will bring.  For everyone asking what to get him...the kid has everything.  He hardly has time to play with the toys he does have.  If you insist on getting him something, books would be great (you'll notice he's really taking a liking to them in some of the pictures above).

50 weeks

We've taken it pretty easy this last week.  With all the festivities coming up, I figure we better get our relaxing in now.
On the Liam front, he's been interacting with us and telling us what he needs/wants more.  Not so much with words but with signs.  Brooke has been great with signing to him 'more' and 'all done' and recently he's started doing them back!  He seems to associate 'more' with food right now, but that's ok.  It lets me know he's hungry and I like that.  He's also mastering high 5's and clapping while working hard on blowing kisses.  Basically he's getting even more fun and the communication thing just makes it so much easier to help him get what he needs and everyone is less frustrated.

If eclair would play with him he would be thrilled, alas she only does it for a short bit and mainly just runs away afraid he's going to pull her skin/fur
If you'll excuse my hair in the next few shots I think you'll find Liam's hat simply adorable (I have no excuse for the hair)
Look at my happy little guy!  He is like this most of the time and it's delightful.
We let him get into the paper trash you see to the side there because it makes him happy and he can't hurt himself so why not.  He loved this mail envelope and carried it around for awhile before it was trashed enough to find another trash that's unreachable to babies

49 weeks

Eclair was feeling left out with all the pictures of Liam so I told her she could have the first one in the post this week.
We decided it would be fun to head up to the snow and let Liam play around a bit...ok it was really just ME who thought it would be fun but Dominic humored me and as you can tell Liam did too.  He sure didn't like getting all bundled up.  Little did he know it would be worth it because I was about to shove him out into the freezing cold. :)
Now he's happier
Hum, what's all this white stuff??  Wonder how it tastes?  Daddy warned him not to eat the yellow snow before we went out and he followed those directions to a T

Come on mom!  Poor guy could hardly walk with all that gear on.

There was actually quite a bit of the white stuff, here's Dominic's leg up to the knee covered.
You can see so much better up here, dad!

just one more taste, guys

We hadn't brought a sled because we don't have one and Dominic didn't think it would be worthwhile to get one with Liam being so little.  I tried suggesting it again on the way up and it was vetoed that time because it would be too expensive...wish we had gotten one.  I think Liam would have liked it.  Instead I just sat down and slid down the hill on my butt with him on my lap.

He was finished after that.  It was cold and since I didn't have snow pants for him his legs were getting wet.  Note to self, get baby snow pants and ones for next year while you're at it.

That weekend we bundled up again, but stayed in Modesto this time.  It was Almond Blossom festival in Ripon and the weather was less than ideal.  It was frigid outside.  Infact, I debated going because it was so cold but thought Liam would have a good time so I perservered.  He was pretty unhappy until the parade got going and insisted on someone standing and holding him the ENTIRE TIME.

We saw lots of firetrucks and police cars

The knights (like BHS down the the colors and everything!)
The clowns won Liam over.  He didn't laugh or smile much but was so intersted in them.

Lots of horses too!  This one below was doing some prancing thing and I think Dominic took about a billion pictures of it.  He claims he was trying to capture the 'dancing' the horse was doing but I think he just really liked the guys hats

We were about to call it a day and had headed back when we saw the Shriners.  I couldn't take Liam to his first Parade without letting him see the Shriners.  I considered asking them to take him for a ride but given his meltdown state didn't think it was fair to put the old guys through that.  My grandpa was a shriner and one of my favorite memories of him was riding in the cars after the fair in Iowa.  I'll have to see if Liam will let me put his hat on for a picture...maybe next week.  Love you, grandpa!
