Lucia's second month

Firsts this month:

First smile!  She's getting much more generous with them now and everyone, including Liam, loves it!
First time meeting Auntie Cindy, John, Hailee and Bella.   6 weeks, July 15th.  They came for a visit July 15th and stayed the whole week. It took Liam and Bella a while to learn to share, they're both so used to being the youngest and getting whatever they want without having to share much. Lucia adored being held almost constantly and watching the kids.

First time in the bumbo, 6 weeks.  She is still a little small and will only be content for about 5 min before her neck becomes warn out but she's learning.  We actually find she does better in the highchair because it's got a higher back support.

Second trip to the zoo.  7 weeks.  With all the kiddos to keep busy when Cindy and John were here, we made a trip to the Micke Grove Zoo.  Lucia slept in the moby through pretty much the whole visit but everyone else had a great time.

First time swimming!  July 28th, 8 weeks. Liam loved going in the evenings at the hotel when auntie was here but the outdoor unheated pool was just to cold to think about taking a little baby into.  We decided to go to the Inshape pool one evening and their warmer therapy pool is perfect!  It's set nice and toasty since it's designed for rehab exercises and is only 4ft deep so no worries aboutmy not touching etc.  She loved it and alternated between just floating around on her back with me supporting her head and being held upright looking out at daddy and Liam playing and splashing.

First trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We had a lovely lazy weekend before I had to head back to work the next week. Lucia hung out in the Moby and liked watching the fish.
First time with the nanny and mommy back to work: July 23rd, 8 weeks.  We made the switch from our longtime nanny to our new one and Lucia and Liam did great.  We've used Rebecca, our new nanny, many times in the past with Liam and she's fabulous!  How did we get lucky twice with such lovely ladies and their children?  Rebecca was available evenings and weekends and lives closer than Brooke does so it worked well for quick dinners and extra babysitting before and she was happy to step in when we heard Brooke would be starting requirements for her CPM this fall. We miss her terribly, but completely understand and are SO excited for her new journey.  Plus, we make sure to get together at least every few weeks so Liam can hang out with them.

8 weeks 7/26: 10 pounds 8 ounces
2 months 7/31: 11 pounds 2 ounces, 23 inches, head circumference 15.25 inches

Lucia's first month

In the first month:
Lucia has met a ton of new people (most notibly grandma and grandpa, May 31 and nana, June 19th)

Her cord fell off super early (on day 4) just like her brother.  I only use water on a little q-tip every other day or so and keep it dry but it seems to work.

Had her first bath on her 5th day of life, thanks to the cord finally falling off.  She wasn't washed before because, well she came out in a bath and was clean enough. 

Had her first and second visits with her doctor. * weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces at her initial check up on day 2 and the doctor said he was concerned about her jaundice.  We opted out of doing the testing as my milk had just started to come in and she appeared much less jaundiced than her brother did at this point.  weighed 7 pounds 4 oz and was 20 3/4 inches long with a 14 inch head at her 2 week check up.

Was babysat by grandma and grandpa and again by nana while mom and dad ran a few errands/had dinner solo

Started in her cloth diapers!  I started her as soon as the meconium passed even though the diapers were definitely a bit big on her. She was 7 days old, I'm pretty sure this was earlier than Liam but we're comfortable with cloth this time around and paying for more 'sposies didn't really appeal to mommy.  She has a leak about once a day right now just because the leg holes are a bit big still.  She's growing into them though and I'm refusing to buy more sposies when I'm doing laundry anyway.

First time at the zoo June 22nd, 3 weeks.  While Nana was here we needed to keep Liam busy so we made a quick trip up to Lodi and Micke Grove.  Lucia slept practically the whole time.  When she wasn't sleeping she was eating.

First time blueberry picking June 26th, 4 weeks.  She didn't participate much but honestly there weren't many berries left to pick so she didn't miss out really.

First trip out!  We went to Kaiser Hospital and saw the Doctor for a check up.

First Doctor's appointment.  We switched doctors after this because mommy doesn't like aggressive docs who don't listen.
