9 weeks

Our little embryo has now officially graduated to fetus-hood

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain

I caved and did another ultrasound because I was worried that I was feeling quite a bit better...baby looks fantastic! with a heart rate of 178 bpm

Here are the belly shots from 9wks exactly

The best news of the week? I started buying a few things baby needs, swaddling blankets and diapers. These blankets are made of muslin and are double thickness for the winter (that's still rather thin and I LOVE that because baby won't get too hot)

BUM GENIUS! these things are fantastic (at least I think they are) They are reusuable cloth diapers with inserts but go on just like disposables. they came with 2 inserts (one newborn and one regular) that can be doubled up at night or used individually. They work from 8-35 pounds. aren't the colors just so much better than disposable? The best part? This will save us a TON of money over the course of our children. SO excited about them if you couldn't tell.
