20 weeks

Liam decided to add a new trick this week, he's sitting on his own!  We have to set him up and he falls easily, especially when he's reaching out for a toy or eclair, but each day he's getting better.

For once we didn't have anything that needed to get done this weekend so we were able to head to Oakland and go to the zoo. This was Liam's first time at the zoo and I think he might have been more interested in the tamed mammals, ie children, then the caged ones!  The weather was perfect and we made it almost all the way through the park before Liam got too tired and conked out.  There are a TON of pictures, thanks to Dominic.

I wanted to update on the cloth diaper situation too, since we're almost 4.5 months in.  We are still using the Bumgenius and we've added a few gro-babies to the mix just so we could try out an all-in-two.  We adore them all but if I had to pick one I would go with the Bums.  Our stash of 24 makes for a good two full days before having to wash.  and speaking of wash, I just ran out of the All free and clear we were using and started with the Charlie's Soap so we'll see if there is any difference.  I think the brightest note regarding the cloth is that Liam hasn't had a single diaper rash and has only had a leak when he goes too long between changes.  Not having those blow-outs that you hear parents talk about all the time is WONDERFUL!  He is currently in the highest rise at night time when we double stuff the diapers and the middle rise during the day when he's single stuffed.  They are suppose to be good to 35 pounds so we'll see if they make it that long.  During our WA trip we used them too, I borrowed a wet bag with drawstring from Brooke and it worked perfectly.  I know it was more of a pain having more stuff to transport and a few loads of laundry to do but it was worth it not to have a diaper rash or blowout along the way.

Liam's schedule has been changing a bit over the last week too.  He seems to be transitioning to waking up later by pushing his bead time to around 8:30pm.  Occasionally, he gets up at 11 and eats again but several times he's gone until 4am without waking.  After eating in bed with us he goes back to his crib until 7:30 when he's up for the day.  If we could eliminate those 11 o'clock wakes ups I think I'd be thrilled :)

A shot Brooke took of Liam and Eclair playing together during the day. Notice the simultaneous playing while not acknowledging each other...completely age appropriate :)
Listen, I'm going to eat Dr Squeaks head, is that ok??
He's quite proud of himself, you'll see why in just a second
He started out ON the play mat and ended up here...in only a few minutes...guess I need to start baby proofing, staring with that wine.

The solution to the hard floors...a larger mat.  This isn't even the entire thing but I didn't want to consume the whole floor with brightly colored alphabet tiles.
Not so sure about the new surface, mom.  It took him a few days to actually move around on it, before that he just stayed in one position.
Foaming at the mouth, do we need to get a rabies shot???

PS I received a text from Dominic today that said "we're going to have a crawler soon"

New tricks:
Liam is able to get completely off his activity mat by using a combination of rolling and worming (scrunching up his knees underneath himself and then stretching himself back out)
He likes to sleep with his head planted firmly in the corner of the crib, how he's able to breathe I'm not quite sure.  He does this when he's falling asleep on us as well, the head plants firmly into the armpit area.
He grabs both feet and holds onto them...especially when getting a diaper change
He grabs at Eclair and pulls on her ears, fur and tail.  She doesn't even flinch.  If she wants him to let go she licks him :)
Everything goes into his mouth, including Eclair occasionally!  Toys, blankets, hands, backcloths, anything and everything
He jumps for huge chunks of time in his jumparoo, like no joke an hour at a time
He tripods, which means he sits up and supports himself with his hands in front of his feet.  This is still pretty wobbly and he can only stay upright for brief periods, however I bet that changes in the next few weeks.

New people:
Liam met Cynthia this week and they were able to spend the entire day together!!  He had a great time showing her all his new tricks and can't wait to see her again.

4 months

Liam actually turned 4 months old while we were in Chelan; but, with all the fun we were having I'm just now getting around to posting about it.  I took pictures with his 4 month onesie in Bremerton, so I'll post a few of those.  After we got home I decided to take some here in his green chair too so the comparison is the same as prior months.  I know I say this every month, but he's SO BIG!  At night sometimes when he's eating I just look at him and think 'please slow down'.  Don't get me wrong, I love to see all the new developments and milestones, I just want to enjoy him as a baby for as long as possible

Current Stats:  Liam is 17.4 pounds, 25.5inches and has a 16.9inch head.  That puts him at 65th percentile for height and 83rd percentile for weight according to the WHO breastfed baby boy charts.  Again Dr Daley said, 'he is officially bigger than my 10 month old' and this breastfeeding mama was proud!  We have no intention of starting him on solids until he's able to feed it to himself.  He does show interest in our food and I have put out utensils for him to play with when we eat (which he occassionally tried to impale his palate with) but we're not even close to him eating solids yet.
Clothing sizes: Onesies are 3-6m with the extender or 6m without, outfits are 6m or 6-12m pretty consistantly in all brands.

He got his second round of vaccines today and cried when he was poked but was my happy baby within 30 seconds of being picked up.
As always we have the previous pictures so you can remember just how far he's come:
