11 weeks

Lots to report this week!
Liam had a great trip over the pass to Muir Woods where he got to explore the redwoods from his stroller.  He slept the entire drive and was a wonderful alert little guy for the 1 1/2 mile hike we did. Eventually he did pass out but gave us quite the headache with screams for food as we made our way into San Francisco.  Thanks to lots of traffic, an unexpected street fair and zero parking we ended up just heading home instead of stopping for a snack.

At the entrance they had this wingspan banner and I insisted on seeing how big Liam's span was...I'd say that Killdeer is pretty close.  Not the Albatross size his dad is..not YET anyway

All strapped in and ready to go!

A few day to day shots, typical bath time with puppy dog towel and everything
Always followed by loves from the actual puppy dog.  These two are getting along just fine, although this stare down looks like they're each staking claim over the same territory...probably daddy's lap
For several months now, really from the beginning, Liam has liked to sit or stand instead of laying when being held.  He started in the bumbo seat pretty early on but he is REALLY loving it now.  Usually he sits in there and we watch daddy make dinner, taking about all the things he's making and how our days went.  Liam just smiles and talks the whole time.

Also this week Liam had his first bout of conjunctivitis.  No doctor's appointment for us though, we just put a little boobie milk in his eye and he was good to go the next day.  Now if we can get that little hangnail on his right big toe to work itself out we'll be golden!

Jerry the giraffe came this week too, thanks Auntie Cindy and uncle John.  I don't have any pictures with him yet but I can tell already he's going to be a favorite.

10 weeks

We had such a wonderful week with lots of visitors including a few new people for Liam to meet!  The week started with my heading back to work and my first full day of call (which ended up being uneventful).  On Wednesday night Claudia, Whitney and Hailey came up from San Diego where they were celebrating Whitney's graduation.  We had yummy lasagna that Nana made when she was here and just hung out.  Then they stopped by the following night for another little bit of Liam lovin' before they headed out on Friday.

That same evening grandma came down to spend another long weekend, she just couldn't bear going the full 3 months until we're up in Washington.  We didn't have much on the task list this trip but decided to do an arbor out back so the bougainvillea wasn't a lethal threat to Liam this summer; it likes to grow so tall that it can't support its own weight and falls into the patio area.  We also took the opportunity to spend some Babies R Us gift cards that grandma got at her work shower for Liam...we loaded up on baby toys and are going to spend the rest on a jumparoo when the time comes.  I'm not sure what the record is for most baby toys but I'm pretty sure this kid is near that number now :)

This phone is MINE, all mine (it's one of his new toys)

digging the holes for the new posts, you can see the makeshift trellis that we used last year and the bougainvillea already starting to shoot up.

We spend a TON of time on the exercise ball, glad we finally got an action shot

This is how my life feels, blurry

Loving bath time and the baby massage that follows each night

two ridiculously happy people :)

The completed trellis, there is fishing wire to help keep the branches up and give them something to grow on
A few more succulents

This succession of pictures is priceless

Eclair wanted to show off the veggies

Forward facing in the Moby, he's getting so big already....Not sure if I'm more sad or proud

Some of us were done enjoying the lovely weather

And little man soon followed inside

What has been referred to as the world's largest paci...this is the one he likes best

We were able to decipher what we think Liam's eating issue was last week and the answer is my going back to work :(  Well, really it's my pumping at work.  I think it's increasing my supply, even though I only pump 10-12 min once during the entire time I'm there, enough that the let down is simply drowning him.  I figured out that even if he refuses to eat I can get him to anyway by just bouncing on the exercise ball while I feed him.  Not sure exactly what the mechanism of action is there but I'm thinking it somehow either slows the letdown or keeps it from hitting him in the back of the throat making it so he can actually swallow and keep up.  I realize this sounds like I'm forcing him to eat when maybe he doesn't want too, but that's not true.  It's been ALL NIGHT, like 8hrs without eating and he just NEEDS to eat.  We have the problem fixed completely now, he'll eat about every 3-4hrs without much prompting, and I go back tomorrow...wish me luck.  I intend to pump for a shorter period, like 8 minutes, and see if that works.

You might notice that I said Liam is sleeping 8+hrs at night!!  He's been doing this a bit but over the last week has become consistent at 8hrs.  Usually he goes down for the night at around 8-9pm and wakes up between 3-5am.  I'll take it!  Hopefully he keeps stretching that morning time and we end up around 7am.

We're all done with visitors until we head up to Washington in less than 2 months, I'm exhausted but sad that we won't be having guests and automatic fun for Liam.  Guess we'll have to make a trip over to San Fran and visit friends there.

9 weeks

So I went back to work, and it actually wasn't that bad.  I believe that's mainly because I started back to work only 2 days a week.  With the honeymoon coming to an end shortly, I'll be back to my regular 3.5 days in 2 more weeks, I'm trying to focus on the postive.  I really have enjoyed seeing the patients I've grown close to and getting caught up on their pregnancies.  Plus, everyone seems to be excited to hear about Liam and see pictures, of course I happily oblige.  The nanny, Brooke, is wonderful with Liam.  She comes to our place, that way we can see him at lunch time, and has tons of experience with newborns and children.  To top it off she's a doula so we can 'talk shop' to pass the time.

Here's how our little man is doing...

He's rubbed that bald spot on the back of his noggin that babies get.

I'm still suspicious about teeth, check out these gums and tell me what you think

He's doing great in the bumbo now, we will sometimes sit him in it on the counter while Dominic makes dinner so he can watch

Then we have the upclose shots of all those small parts that grow so quickly

He's almost too big for his Puj tub, although I still love this thing and so does he so I'm going to keep it around as long as possible.

Our handsome little man.  Please just admire those lashes for a minute, boys always get the best ones!

We're looking forward to introducing him to Claudia, Whitney and Hailey as well as another trip from grandma this coming week!
