BFP

which means BIG FAT POSITIVE! we're having a baby :)

Sorry to have held out on you this long but we really wanted to see a beating heart and make sure all was well first. I got my first positive 10 days post ovulation with an impromptu late night test. The line was so faint, as you can see here:

that I thought maybe I was seeing things, thought I better sleep on it and retest in the morning, since that's the most likely to be positive. I woke up bright and early before Dominic left for work and did it, then left it and went back to bed, I DID NOT read it. When I woke up for the day I check and it was surely positive. I did some bloodwork that day and started taking prometrium just in case, my progesterone levels were running low in previous months. The first beta HCG was 61. Two days later it was 220 and 2 more days later it was nearly 1300! My progesterone with the first test was 18 and on the third test, I had stopped the prometrium, was 40+. I was feeling confident but was a little nervous at the rapidly increasing values, it can indicate twins. Wednesday before Chelan I did a quick ultrasound scan but all you could see was a little shadow of something. The following day you could see a gestational sac. I did some lifting for packing and had some spotting.

We told the Jensen's on Saturday morning by sending Eclair up with her Big Sis tee on.

And then headed straight to the Garguile's and surprised them with picture frames for grandparents and aunts/uncles.

Everyone was thrilled, but I think Mary takes the cake for excitement. She wanted to tell everyone ASAP. We made her wait until we got to Chelan and had the family pose for our traditional group chelan shot. instead of saying cheese, Dominic said 1-2-3-shawna's pregnant! They were thrilled of course. This shot was taken just a second too early and the flip died before it was time, GRRR

Here are the two ultrasound pictures we have already. The first looks like an empty circle because it is, the baby is just a few cells and is actually FLAT still

>
You can see at the top of the circle in this one there is a little something, that's the baby and it now has a heartbeat which we could see. We call this one our gummybear since that's what it looks like.

The plan is to take belly shots every night, we've already missed a few but gotten most of them, so you can see the "growth" from afar.

it's my lucky day

The parfaits I made last night, we enjoyed them out on the deck after it cooled down a bit, ie it was under 100 degrees
Pup was mad that she didn't get any :(

Some of my finds today. I liked the rug and it was only $30 but it wasn't intended for outdoors. I didn't think that would matter except that it would wear faster, it matters. It was so hot I couldn't even step on it after 10 minutes outside; went right back to the store.

the indoor rug for the slider to the backyard. After Dominic mopped, don't worry I swept he didn't do the cleaning by himself, I walked inside from the back leaving footprints along the way he was upset that I was "messing up the floors". HMMM seems like he might "get it" now! I got this rug to help with the problem. $3.50

A decorative hand towel for my bathroom, love the paisley print. 2 at $5 each

Closer up

And heading outside now. This is a table cloth for the table out back. It has a slit with velcro so you can still use it and leave the umbrella in the table. $13

New nesting tables for between the chairs, LOVE THESE. $60

So I'm still on the look out for a rug. I'm contemplating spray painting a border around ours? It was part of the settlement (if you don't know what that means too bad : P ) so not much of an investment. Good idea or no?
Oh and I found $40 in an old card today, lovely day!

Hubs to the rescue

I got a flat tire on Thursday, luckily I was off work already. I had a ton of errands to run and since there was no way I was budging those nuts and bolts, Dominic came home to help. He switched it to the spare and I headed to Firestone to get it fixed. Turns out the tire was fine. Apparently the chrome rim was chipping and that was causing a leak. they sealed that rim and put the tire back on, good as new!

I also discovered some specialty features on our camera and tried them out on some subjects, both mobile and immoble.
How cute is our first born pup? Just look at those eyes and that wet little nose.
she's not too still though and the zoomed in nature of the macro feature means the slightest twitch shows.

Check out some of our garden. this pepper is long gone now.

Lettuce

A ton of tomatos. and we cut what we planted in half from last year. There are at least 50 cherry tomatos on there

Flamenco night

We spent Saturday night up in Lodi at D'art, our fav winery, at a wonderful little event they hold yearly, Flamenco night. We were happy and full after a night of watching, dancing, tapas and paella. I'll let the pictures and video speak for themselves

PS little miss e is healing up nicely. She got her stitches out on Tuesday, although her mom thought they were ready to come out on Sat, and she hasn't skipped a beat. Thankfully the stitches are in a perfect 'no lick' spot on her shoulder and we didn't have to manage with the elizabethian collar.
